Barely a week goes by without a brand-new EV rolling into the studio. Zeekrs, Teslas, the odd BYD, still with the delivery plates on. The owners have all worked out the same thing: the smart time to protect a new electric car is before you have driven it anywhere, not after the first chip appears.
EVs are a bit different to protect than a petrol car, and that is exactly why owners come to people who do them every week. Here is what they are actually booking, and why.
New EVs mark easier than you would think
A lot of new electric cars leave the factory with softer paint than owners expect, and Teslas are famous for it. The low, flat bonnet and big front end take the full force of highway stone chips and grit, so the damage starts on day one whether you can see it yet or not.
Then there is the glass. That huge Tesla and Zeekr roof loads the cabin with heat and UV, the charge-port area sees constant hands and cables, and the minimalist body only looks its best while the paint stays flawless. Sorting all of that before the first road trip is far cheaper than fixing it after.
What EV owners actually book
Paint protection film on the high-impact front end is the number one job: self-healing STEK film over the bonnet, bumper, mirrors and charge-port area, so stone chips stop at the film instead of the paint. Plenty go full-body on cars they plan to keep.
After that it is nano-ceramic window tint, which rejects serious heat under that big glass roof and eases the load on the battery and air-con, so you claw back a little range on a hot day. A Gtechniq ceramic coating locks in the gloss and makes the car shrug off brake dust and grime, and satin or stealth wraps and chrome delete are hugely popular on EVs for that clean, blacked-out look, all without touching the factory paint underneath.
Why Zeekr and Tesla owners pick us
We do these cars constantly, so we know the panels, the soft spots and the trims that need a careful hand. We cover the current range: Tesla Model 3, Model Y and the new six-seat Model Y L, the Zeekr line-up, and BYD from the Atto 3 and Dolphin to the Seal, Sealion and Shark 6.
It is done properly too: as an authorised STEK studio and authorised Gtechniq applicator, every job runs in a controlled, climate-managed studio with the manufacturer-backed warranty behind it, at both our Melbourne (Ravenhall) and Perth (Malaga) locations. Get it done early and your EV simply stays new, which your resale value will thank you for.
